Pediatric Dentist Bakersfield California

Let’s Keep Teeth Clean Long-Term!

Begin babies around the age of 1!

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) has recommended that parents take their babies to the dentist at 1 year of age or 6 months after the first tooth erupts, which is normally around 6 months of age.

Seal Out the Cavities!

With all the sugars and candies that kids may get their hands on time after time, it is important that parents take their children to the dentist for sealants. Sealants are harmless and help block out cavities up to 80% more than molars without a sealant!

Emergency Pediatric Dental Care!

Children are known to be rambuctists! So it is not promised that sports or rough play at home can stop a cracked, chipped, or knocked-loose tooth. Our emergency dental services can help repair your child’s tooth to ensure long-term, successful repair growth.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I bring my child in for their first visit?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) has recommended that parents take their babies to the dentist at 1 year of age or 6 months after the first tooth erupts, which is normally around 6 months of age.

Are baby teeth important for my child?

Primary, or “baby,” teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, but they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to erupt.

What should I do if my child has a toothache?

First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen (e.g., Children’s Tylenol) for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, contact your dental office for further recommendations and see your dentist as soon as possible.

Is thumb sucking and pacifiers habits harmful to my child's teeth?

Thumb and pacifier sucking habits will generally only become a problem if they go on for a very long period of time. Most children stop these habits on their own, but if they are still sucking their thumbs or fingers past the age of three, a mouth appliance may be recommended by your pediatric dentist. If you have any concerns, please consult with one of our dentists.

What should I do if my child knocks out one of their permanent teeth?

The most important thing to do is to remain calm. Then find the tooth. Hold it by the crown rather than the root, and try to reinsert it in the socket. If that is not possible, put the tooth in a glass of milk and take your child and the glass immediately to the pediatric dentist.
